Marry, Date or Dump: The Chronicles of Narnia

16nara.xlarge1

Happy Labor Day everyone! I scratched my head trying to come up with a marry, date or dump that was in theme. I’ve always been partial to the union organizer, Samuel Gompers, because he gives me a book every year on Labor Day. What can I say? My family loves giving presents and celebrating fair working conditions.

I couldn’t think of other people to add, so I decided to go magical and give you three men from The Chronicles of Narnia, by C. S. Lewis: Peter Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie, and Prince Caspian. As always, if you are moved to substitute my choices with other characters (Eustace Scrubb perhaps?) then go right ahead. Let me know who you would marry, who you would date, and who you would dump in the comments section! Also let me know if you have a good Labor Day themed marry, date or dump for next year.

  2. Oh no! I had already decided to pick Edmund to marry -the other two are a little egotistical. I want to marry a man who can learn change and grow. I cant wait to read why he is your favorite character. As tithe others I would date both of them butif I have to choose date Caspian dump peter

  3. I’m sorry to be the only one to not pick Edmund. But I would dump him in a heartbeat. I’d date Peter then probably dump him. I’d totally marry Prince Caspian as played by Ben Barnes. Vavoom!!

  4. MDorD 2014: Eugene V. Debs (actual reason we have Labor Day), Cesar Chavez (founder of farm workers union), Jimmy Hoffa (because every list needs a bad boy!)

I’m not a fan of Samuel Gompers. He sided with the government against the Pullman Rail Car strikers and was ok with the US military murdering 30 workers and wounding 57 others simply because those workers asked for their housing and food costs (all owned by Pullman and his company town) to be cut after Pullman drastically cut their salaries. Labor Day exists because of the Pullman Strikers, not Sam Gompers.

The earliest US union was founded by 2 women. In 1825, two seamstresses formed the first all-women’s labor union, the United Tailoresses of New York, to protest 16-hour days that did not guarantee a living wage.

  5. OMG, I got so excited when I saw this post. I’m a HUGE Edmund fan too and I can’t believe I’m seeing other Edmund lovers!!!! YAY!!! All my friends were swooning over Ben Barnes when PC came out but I always thought Caspian was too much like the illegitimate son of Antonio Banderas. I loved Edmund’s evolution from the first to the second story/movie – well, especially movie as he got more screen time than book time. I also love the fact that it’s time believing Lucy and HIM always managing to save Peter’s ass! Ahem, not to mention, Skandar Keynes *totally* does it for me in that way that only a dark-haired, dark-eyed, freckled kick-ass nerd type can. *fans self a bit*
So obviously I would marry Edmund. I think I’d date Peter and dump Caspian, just because I’d feel way too ugly standing next to Ben Barnes!!!
    Great fandom xD

  6. What a fun blog! I love this post. I would totally marry Caspian, date Edmund, and dump Peter! Peter was never my favorite.

  7. I would dump Peter, definitely. I had such a crush on Prince Caspian when I was little and my mother read these book to my sister and me. I don’t know if I can let kid-me down, even though I’m really into Edmund as a character now when I’m older!

So, I guess it’s marry Prince Caspian and date Edmund. Or then I could go on a couple of dates with Caspian, and if I see that it was only a childhood crush and isn’t going to work out, then I could marry Edmund…

I thought way too much about this question! 😀 Thanks for the entertainment!

  8. OMG. My childhod crush was Edmond, but looking back now I think I would have to date him, dump caspian and MARRY PETER!!! He is so cute not to mention brave and has the best accent ever ,<3.
